Kelly will host an experiential workshop where participants will explore the impact of traumatic childhood experiences, how those experiences are stored in the brain, and the healing power of  sandtray play therapy through exploration of The Window of Tolerance.  After learning about the Window of Tolerance participants will get the opportunity to experience an intervention created by Marshall Lyles to create their own Window of Tolerance in the sandtray.

Dr. Foster, Dr. Blanco, and Dr. Holliman will present on how Humanistic sandtray play therapy is a developmentally appropriate form of play therapy for clients 9 years old or older. The presentation will discuss the pragmatic issues regarding the development of a humanistic sandtray play therapy program in a school setting. The presenter will review philosophical underpinnings of humanistic sandtray play therapy and describe how to successfully integrate it in middle school settings with diverse populations. The presentation will include common struggles for students in school settings. The presentation will provide data regarding the impact of sandtray play therapy on students’ trauma and externalizing behavior.
