Why is it important to have a network of therapists who understand, through training, what it means to be clinically based in sandtray therapy? 7. Why is it important to know who your trainer’s trainer was? Learning Objectives: 1. List a professional resource for guidelines regarding play therapy ethics. 2. Discuss Texas SandTray Association’s best practices regarding training guidelines for play therapists using sandtray therapy. 3. List the elements used to determine professional competence by APT in their section Professional Competencies. 4. Describe the importance of understanding Implicit & Explicit Representations of miniatures in sandtray play therapy. 5. Explain the reasons why in-person, experiential training is a best practice for sandtray training. 6. List at least 3 reasons why it is important to have a professional network of therapists who specialize in the specific play therapy modality you use.
